PRODUCT MATERIALS

Every item at The Upcycled Fabric Project is made with 50-100% upcycled, or secondhand fabric. When coordinating fabric is purchased, we use a USA based manufacturer that is breaking the mold of fabric printing. Spoonflower aims to reduce material and water waste during production, only printing to order and using a more efficient pigment printing process. Any fabric remnants are donated to the Green Chair Project and A Lotta Love, which help provide essential housing, furnishings, and services to those facing homelessness.

My personal fabric scraps are kept for other projects or recycled via For Days. Besides selling sustainable and circular fashion, For Days recycles unknown fabrics and diverts them from landfills by turning them into insulation, rugs, and cleaning materials. Do you want to recycle your old clothes or linens? Learn more about For Days’ recycling program, by clicking here.

Our logo tags are printed on undyed GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified 100% organic cotton.

Whenever possible, we support small and local businesses. Our logo tags, a portion of our fabric, our custom cutting templates, and product photography all come from local and small businesspeople.

I created The Upcycled Fabric Project to help curb wanton waste when it came to fabric and textiles. The Upcycled Fabric Project is committed to leaving the smallest carbon footprint possible, using eco-friendly materials and shipping supplies, and helping enact positive social and environmental change.

SHIPPING

Every order is shipped in either a 100% recycled content paper mailer that is both curbside recyclable and naturally biodegradable, or in a compostable, plant-based poly-mailer alternative. Everything included in your order is recyclable, compostable, or both! How cool is that? From the order slip, to the tissue paper, business card, and even the twine or fabric I use to tie your order off with a bow, nothing has to end up in the landfill.

GIVING BACK

In February of 2021, we launched The Conservation Collection, which consisted of five different animal and nature bandana prints. Each print in the collection correlates to a conservation organization in which we will donate an additional 10% of proceeds to, upon the fabric print selling out.
